31 October 2009 Paper Tax Return submission deadline- be aware of the late submission penalty
Thu, Oct 29, 2009
For anyone who received a notice to complete their Self Assessment Tax Return before 31 July 2009, the 31 October 2009 paper return submission deadline is only 2 days away.
Be aware that the paper form SA Tax Return needs to reach HM Revenue & Customs by midnight of 31 October 2009 in order to avoid late submission penalties. Therefore it is safer to hand deliver to your HM Revenue & Customs enquiry centre than to rely on post reaching on time. However, with the recent postal strikes, HM Revenue & Customs have provided guidance that there will not be a late submission penalty providing that you post your return before 31 October. For proof of postage make sure that you send your Return by recorded delivery.
If you have not as yet completed your Tax Return then by all means take advantage of the electronic submission (submitting Return online) deadline of 31 January 2010! If you feel daunted by this then TaxPenny are always here to help.
