Just how much did the Government collect in taxation in the last tax year? Well, we now know thanks to the release of detailed tax receipt information by HMRC. A total of £446 Billion was collected in taxes in the last tax year. This figure includes all taxes, such as duties and VAT.
  • 55.4 percent of the figure is derived from Income Tax, National Insurance Contributions and Capital Gains Tax (£247 Billion).
  • VAT contributed 18.7 percent (£83 Billion).
  • Corporation Tax provided 9.4 percent (£42 Billion).
The number of registered individual taxpayers is reported as 30.6 Million.
